We are so excited to celebrate with everyone on island! If you have any questions, or need help with the logistical details, please reach out and we're happy to help! We recommend reserving your travel and accommodations as far in advance as possible because hotels and rentals book up early. Most MA locals take the ferry to get to the island, but there is also an airport with flights from Boston and New York.
Ferry: The Steamship Authority offers car and passenger ferry service from Woods Hole, MA (on Cape Cod) to Martha's Vineyard. The ride is about 45 minutes, and will take you to either Vineyard Haven or Oak Bluffs (both of which are convenient). If you aren’t bringing a car, reservations aren’t required and tickets can be purchased at the terminal. The off-site parking lot is called the Palmer Avenue Lot (286 Palmer Avenue, Falmouth, MA 02540) and costs $20/day. There are shuttle buses connecting the parking lot and the ferry terminal. We'd recommend arriving an hour before your ferry departs.
If you would like to bring your car to the island, ferry reservations are required and spots book up early. 2025 ferry reservations open February 4th, and we recommend booking as early as possible.
If you’re staying in downtown Edgartown, cars aren’t a necessity and all of our wedding events are easily accessible by foot. There is limited public parking available in town. Bringing a car would be most useful if you are planning to stay for extra time and want to explore other up-island areas of Martha's Vineyard. There are Ubers & Lyfts on island, but they can be less reliable in the shoulder season.
The Vineyard VTA Busses: (https://www.vineyardtransit.com/route-maps) These busses connect all towns on the island, and are now free. We think they’re great, and a very convenient option for getting from the ferry terminals in Vineyard Haven or Oak Bluffs to Edgartown.
Flying: Guests also have the option of flying to the Vineyard; Cape Air and Jetblue offer flights from Boston Logan to MVY Airport in West Tisbury, and Delta offers flights from LaGuardia. The airport is a 10 minute (5 mile) drive to Edgartown, with rental cars and taxis available.
We recommend staying at a hotel in downtown Edgartown for convenient access to shops, dining, and wedding festivities! If you are planning to stay as a larger group, renting a private home in Edgartown is also a good option. Our room block is at The Harborside Inn in town center. For home rentals, Airbnb and VRBO all offer several listings on the island, as do local real estate companies Point B Realty and Sandpiper Realty.
Stay where Alex and Sam have their time share! The location is ideal along the waterfront, next to the downtown shops, and just down the street from our wedding venues. Enjoy a day by the pool or an evening at the fire pits watching the comings and goings on the harbor. The hotel offers complimentary coffee and tea in the lobby every morning with milk and cookies at night!
For room block details, contact The Harborside Inn directly and it will be under "Alex Palfrey and Samantha Spellman Wedding"
We also recommend The Christopher, which is right across the street from The Harborside Inn! With breezy blues, purples and pops of coral, the color scheme at The Christopher feels distinctly coastal. Guests can’t help but relax and shift into island time. A back courtyard features both sunny and shady spots to lounge and enjoy the BYOB mixer bar. Edgartown Harbor, the shops and galleries of Main and Water Streets, and world-class restaurants are just outside the front door.
If looking for a home rental, we recommend reaching out to Alexandra Mark at Point B Realty (https://www.pointbrealty.com/agents/alexandra-mark)
